Day 3- Start of the VLCD

Well its 330pm on my first day of the VLCD. I have ate about 367 calories...so far, I still need to do dinner. I feel great, I am not hungry. Today is my day off, so I spent the morning doing some homework and cleaning my bedroom and bathroom. I ran a few errands (got my veggies) cooked some meat and veggies for tomorrow and saturday- always gotta have those meals prepared :)
My two days of loading did increase my weight.
This morning I weighed in at 239.1 with a body fat % of 41.
That is going to be my starting weight before the VLCD.
I made goals for myself for each week on how much I want to lose. The first few weeks it does average about a lb a day, and then I slowly decreased my goals. We will see what happens this first week and then I can reassess.
I am planning on running today- so I was looking towards doing about 700 cals to make up the difference for the calories I burn. I am signed up to do a 2 mile truffle shuffle run on Feb 13th, So I am going to start moving my running to the outdoors. It's still been cold here (Oregon) but the sun has been out and I should have no problem moving outside...getting some fresh air!

Today I also took pictures of myself...in sports bra and underwear. It was not pleasant. I took them because I want to see the difference. I am not posting them until I have something better to show with the bad. I am still not sure how often I want to take pictures. I think I will watch the weight loss and inches and when I think I can see a difference, I will take progress pics.
I was very disappointed in the way I look and the fact that I have let myself look like this.
I am not able to change the past though, so its all about moving forward.

I am debating on the use of my lotion (I use lotion all the time). I have read to try and avoid any oils even those in lotions and cosmetics. I use cocoa butter though to help my skins flexibility (to avoid loose skin). I think I will continue to use it....if I see that I am not loosing weight, I may try eliminating it.
I bought all kinds of veggies today at the store. I spend 50 bucks on basically produce.
Berries, squash, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, asparagus, green beans, sweet peppers, bananas, apples..ect...
I also bought some more cottage cheese, if there are any meals I would like to substitute that for the meat, and some skim rich milk.
I am ready for whatever life brings me!!
Time to work on some more homework...and my roommate should be home soon, so we can go on our run!!! :)

...its been awhile...

WOW! Its been a long time since I have blogged anything!
A lot has been going on, I am working at a new job (Royal Caribbean Cruiselines). So now along with going to school full time, I am working full time as well. I love my new job!! It definitely is a transition though, working full time and school. School is my number one priority, and last week that wasn't the case. I had a variety of quizzes and tests last week, I didn't do too well.
I really need to not procrastinate and get into a routine, I need to remind myself that school is my number one and I am pre-med so that means...AMAZING grades.
Weight- Well on all that note...I seriously have been doing really good working on my weight. I wanna do the half marathon in May, I am gone to eating almost all natural, been exercising regularly. DESPITE all of that, my weight happens to be the same.

I started going back to the idea that it might have to do with being diagnosed with PCOS last year. My main symptom is that I don't ovulate, I am not producing that hormone. Last year when I got diagnosed the doctor suggested HCG, a hormone used for fertility that produces ovulation. When eating well, it has also been used for weightloss. The doctor hoped that with the boost of correct cycle of ovulation and the weight loss it would "cure" me. At the time, it was EXTREMELY expensive to do the injections through the doctor.
It has now gained popularity because of its weight loss effects. Due to that the price has dramatically decreased. So I have ordered it, and am expecting to get it this week. Just to be clear, I know there is much speculation about HCG and I advise anyone who is thinking about doing it to speak to a doctor first!!
I noticed while researching more about HCG, the blogs on it and real people advice is limited. Therefore I was hoping to get on more often and blog my progress.
I plan to weigh in daily and use my scale to measure body fat, then do measurements weekly.
I do plan on exercising while on the HCG drops, I am still trying to train for a marathon...I will run approx 4x a week. On the days I do run...I have been advised to eat 75% of the calories I burn, in the approved foods. So on a normal running interval day I burn about 300 cals. so on those days I will eat 225 more calories to balance everything out.

The approved foods are limited to no starches or sugars, for the most part...lean meats, veggies, and fruits. and limited portions of things such as milk, cottage cheese, egg.
I will definitely be posting more when I start and my thoughts and how it makes me feel!!
If all goes well, I am hoping to do before and after pics as well.

Midterms

Its been 'one of those weeks'. I have had more papers due this week than I have had the beginning 4 weeks put together. A Bible midterm on Women of Genesis and Exodus- I spent an enormous amount of time on this essay and am hoping for a fantastic grade, as well as a commentary summary in my literature class- not expecting that good of a grade on this, I had a difficult time summarizing a summary and having enough to make it sound intelligent. This paper is rewritable though, so I am not too worried.
I had my first official day as a hospital volunteer on Tuesday, it was amazing. Before I had just been shown around, kind of getting acquainted with the area. I was able to observe a circumcision, and just had a great time running around, and just being in the hospital environment. Being a doctor is defiantly just in my bones. I have also started babysitting for some extra cash (well not really EXTRA- just enough to pay bills) I enjoy it, I love kids and it works well with my schedule.
So between school, babysitting, volunteer and homework...I haven't had any exercise time. Last I exercised was Saturday (a fabulous 2 hour workout) but am disappointed I haven't done anything since then. I plan to go for a run (outside in the brisk fall weather) this afternoon. Despite the lack of exercise, I have lost an additional 6.2 pounds since October 19th. I find this absolutely fabulous. As long as I have a any amount of weight loss I am happy.
I am still training for the 5K so I am slightly behind on that, but some pushing and dedication and I can defiantly get back on track.
I think I am going to break tonight...curl up with hot cocoa and a good book. Relax and have some me time. Then start on weekend homework tomorrow.
My brain deserves a break for a night :).

Reality

Weight Loss- I feel like yesterday I ate the whole house, I was starving all day. PMS gets a big thanks for that. I should be in the gym right now, as opposed to blogging. I want to be able to run consistently .5 mile by Friday. That is part of my schedule for the turkey trot (5k Run on Thanksgiving). I tried being half way decent with the truck load of food that I consumed yesterday. I did do better today.

School- busy busy busy...I went to the library today after class for about 3hrs to study. It was so nice to be away from the distractions at home. Whenever I begin to study at home, there is always TV, computer, or phone calling me instead. I was able to achieve so much in those 3 hrs and felt so good about it. I am thinking of going up there every couple days when I need to. I have a math test Friday and a Bible quiz Monday...So the rest of the week I had better get going and study study study. I am going to try my very hardest to achieve straight As. Obviously I want to get accepted into an amazing medical school, and that is going to take so much effort to get those fantastic grades.

Sunday

Today is going be a busy busy day!
I have homework this morning, a interview for babysitting at 2pm, and then my siblings and I are getting together to do pictures for grandparents, and parents for Christmas. I have a nice chunk of homework in every class. 2 reading analysis, just reading in general, math work, critical thinking...
I want to make some time for a work out as well. I had some great gym time yesterday, I did 30 minutes circuit training and about 30 minutes walking/running intervals on the treadmill.

I have my first day of volunteering at the hospital Tuesday. I am so excited, because my profession will be obstetrics and women's health. I talked her into placing me in women's health (mother-baby specifically) normally they do not place people in there, its all strictly in lock down to protect the mothers and babies. Then Thursday I have an appt to go see about donating plasma (some extra cash and getting to help the world).

Alright I better get started on that homework!
